For the few heads among us that don’t know the Run Dem Crew yet, this is for you. UK website BNTL (Better Never Than Late) went down to London to its number one running club Run Dem Crew. Founder Charlie Dark talks us through the evolution of RDC, upcoming projects and how you can get involved. A must see!

Last Sunday was the first annual of the Honolulu Marathon. Jun Takahashi (Undercover/Gyakusou) along with the members of Team Gira (Gyakusou International Running Association) have been training over the past few months to participate in this weekends 2011 Honolulu Marathon.
Nike Stadium Tokyo asked Frank Liew, one of the Team Gira members, to document this trip including an interview with Team GIRA. You can read all about it at the Nike Stadium Tokyo website.

The Running Event might just be the biggest expo for specialty running retailers. For the 2011 edition hundreds of US retailers (mostly independent) came to Austin, Texas to gaze at all things running that awaits us in 2012. Not just the brands were present to showcase whats in store, but retailers could also hear speakers handing out tips and forecasts for the growing specialty running industry.

London based running crew Run Dem Crew has been something design agency Rosie Lee has been involved with from it’s inception 3 years ago. This year several of it’s members took on their biggest challenge – the London Marathon.
The Run Dem Crew has been documented before on video, but this time you can place the crew on your very own coffee table. The book AWAY! AWAY! AWAY! follows their journey, from their regular Tuesday sessions through to the final finish line. Shown over 6 ‘zine’ style photo essays, using images shot by Tom Hull, who followed (and ran with) the group for the 4 month lead-up to the VLM (Virgin London Marathon).
In documenting this journey, Rosie Lee wanted the final book to have an energetic and loose feel and it was a conscious decision not to produce a reportage style book, but instead to opt for a more honest and ‘hands-on’ look and feel.
The finished books with its vivid range of colours were sewn together and the spine left exposed. The end result is a frenetic, unselfconscious, heartfelt book of a group of people doing amazing stuff. The book is featuring an introduction and poem from Run Dem Crew’s front man, Charlie Dark.

The Run Dem Crew Youngers is a project that brings a group of new runners from the sofa to the finish line. Led by Charlie Dark and his Run Dem Crew ‘elders’, the project aims to inspire young people through sport and creativity. This is the second film of a two part series produced by Nike Running UK.

RDC Youngers is a project that takes the London based Run Dem Crew into the heartbeat of the younger generation, giving them the tools to change their lives through sport and creativity. This is the first in a two-part film produced by Nike Running UK that follows the Youngers as they train for the 2011 Run to the Beat half-marathon powered by Nike+.

The Antipods Running Collective is a small running crew from New Zealand. The Antipods are Frank Liew (Team GIRA2), Ivy Ong, Hal’e Lawrence and Levin Laird. Their goals for 2011 are the adidas Auckland Full Marathon in October and the Honolulu Full Marathon in December. What’s the crew about? In their own words: “We are not athletes, but we like to set goals. We are all about running and everything that’s not. We live for everything else, but sometimes we also like to run.”
