Nike LunarEpic Flyknit

Nike launches LunarEpic Flyknit

The conception of the LunarEpic Flyknit began over 18 months ago with the contemplation of a global football boot. Taking insight from Nike’s Magista — which allows the foot, ankle and lower leg to work together as a single unit to emphasize natural movement and a feeling of fluidity — the company’s running designers set out to create a shoe that imparted this same sensation, while still serving runner’s key needs: fit, feel and force.

Thus far goes the introduction of the LunarEpic story that will be further unfold the coming months. Nike has stated that is has developed the future of running. Still the central element of the shoe remains an ultra lightweight and breathable Nike Flyknit upper. A newly added detail is the extension of the outer material. This sock like feature reaches above the ankle and provides a physical and sensory secure grip. The Nike Flywire fibers provide additional support and a snug, but at the same time dynamic fit.

Another story is the midsole. The Nike designers used the innovative dual-injection technology for the midsole. By using heat instead of glue they have merged two foam layers to form a piece that is still characterized by traditional Lunarlon cushioning. Incisioned with laser cuts on the sides, the midsole provides more flexibility.

The outsole is designed with a special profile technology that makes us of pressure zones. Made from Lunarlon foam pads the outsole moves individually so that different zones react specifically on pulses and result in an unmatched ride by returning energy when needed.

The sum of this all is a new shoe concept that is characterised by a sock-like fit, a smooth ride and an ultra-soft feel. The shoe is versatile and suitable for both long and short runs and for high and moderate pace. So whether you are tackling a distance workout, a progression run or a recovery run, this is your shoe of choice.

The Nike LunarEpic is now available in several colorways with an exclusive version coming soon. More info can be found on
