New Balance goes Barefoot
Als men aan minimalistische of barefoot hardloopschoenen denkt, dan zullen de meeste lopers automatisch denken aan Nike en met name de Nike Free. Maar Nike is niet meer de enige leverancier van dergelijke schoenen, getuige de opkomst van een merk als Vibram Five Fingers. Niet alleen nieuwe merken werpen zichzelf op de barefoot running doelgroep, ook gerenommeerde bedrijven als New Balance ziet het potentieel ervan in.
Zo zal New Balance in oktober 2010 de New Balance 101 (voor heren de New Balance MT101 en voor de dames New Balance WT101) op de markt brengen. De NB 101 is een trail running schoen, maar dan wel een van het minimalistische soort dat zorgt voor een “barefoot” gevoel. Eerder bracht New Balance al de 800 en de 100 uit als minimalistische hardloopschoen.
En ook met deze schoen zijn echte hardlopers betrokken geweest in de ontwerp fase, zoals New Balance dat met iedere hardloopschoen doet.

When you think of minimalist or barefoot running shoes, most runners will automatically think of Nike and the Nike Free in particular. But Nike is not the only supplier of such shoes, witnessing the emergence of the Vibram Five Fingers brand.
