Run to Live - the story of Shane James

Run to live The story of Shane James

In 2006, Shane James faced death. Stiff Persons Syndrome, a rare disease that affects one in a million, was destroying his muscle at a devastating rate. He had only one way to save his own life: running.

Diagnosed with a rare illness in 2006 that almost killed him, Shane runs to rebuild muscle faster than the disease can destroy it. He will run the NEW YORK MARATHON for the first time in November! Running with fellow SPSer, George (doing his first marathon), Shane and George hope to raise awareness for rare diseases, with a focus on SPS. Both feel fortunate to have beat the disease enough to run marathons, but don’t be fooled, the pain is always present.
